Partner spotlight session National Energy Action

NHS Core20PLUS5 approach to reducing healthcare inequalities
Danni Barnes provided an overview of what NEA are offering customers to stay warm and healthy this winter.
Danni also provided a high-level overview of initial plans for a collaborative health-focused project with GDNs and the thinking behind this concept. This includes:
- Integrating the service with health sector partners
- Working with established referral partners to offer holistic advice to resolve issues and position clients in a sustainable position
- Established links with local and national measures schemes to improve energy efficiency
- Upskilling and building capacity amongst partners to build resilience and raise awareness
Danni also spoke about the NHS Core20PLUS5 approach to reducing healthcare inequalities. Core20PLUS5 is a national NHS England approach to inform action to reduce healthcare inequalities at both national and system level. The approach defines a target population – the ‘Core20PLUS’ – and identifies ‘5’ focus clinical areas requiring accelerated improvement.
The approach, which initially focused on healthcare inequalities experienced by adults, has now been adapted to apply to children and young people.
