What’s next for innovation at NGN?
Looking ahead
We recently submitted our five-year RIIO-GD3 innovation strategy to Ofgem, a roadmap to achieve net zero and support more customers in vulnerable circumstances.
Whilst we await Ofgem’s determination on that strategy, we are hard at work developing our project delivery plan and pushing forward with our existing portfolio of boundary-breaking innovation projects.
Our innovation work is centred around five core streams over the next five years. They are:
- Whole energy systems and how we transition to clean energy supply, fairly.
- Sustainable communities, working with local communities, charities and local authorities to deliver a fair transition.
- Customer vulnerability, supporting customers with specific needs and improving our services to them with emerging technologies and methods.
- Safely and effectively repurposing our gas network to support our industrial and commercial customers in the transition to hydrogen.
- Embracing advanced technology to achieve better business results and customer benefits. We’ll also continue to focus on future orientated data and digitisation.
As the pioneering projects in this report demonstrate, we are leading the way when it comes to large-scale innovation ventures, partnering with other businesses and SMEs to shape the future of the energy market and provide better, safer services to our customers.
