Today’s Hot Topic – Support through energy transition
A Government timeline to net zero was shared with stakeholders and a simple definition shared as to what net zero means - balancing the amount of carbon emitted into the atmosphere with the amount removed. It's a goal that can be achieved by reducing emissions and removing carbon from the atmosphere.
The timeline covers the period from 2028 to 2050, as detailed below: -
- 2028 – installation of 600k heat pumps per annum
- 2030
- Clean power
- 68% reduction in UK emissions
- All private landlords and all fuel poor homes to hit EBP band C
- 2035
- All UK homes to reach band C
- All new cars and vans to be fully zero emissions at tailpipe
- 2037 - Start of the 7th Carbon Budget
